LK 21: 34-36
In this gospel, Jesus says to his disciples: “Beware that your hearts do not become drowsy from carousing and drunkenness and the anxieties of daily life, and that day catch you by surprise like a trap. For that day will assault everyone who lives on the face of the earth. Be vigilant at all times and pray that you have the strength to escape the tribulations that are imminent and to stand before the Son of Man.” In simple words, Jesus is trying to tell us that we should not get distracted and caught up in bad habits and materialistic things. Falling in these “traps” will make it more difficult to stand before Jesus when we are ready to go to Heaven or Hell. This gospel reminds me that I should always remember to not let material items consume me or be so important. We should always follow in Jesus’ footsteps.
