LK 1:39-45
In this Gospel passage, Mary travels to Judah to visit her cousin Elizabeth, who is also pregnant with Jesus’ cousin John. At the sound of Mary’s greeting, Elizabeth’s baby leaped in the womb for joy. Filled with the Holy Spirit, Elizabeth proclaimed: “Blessed are you who believed that what was spoken to you by the Lord would be fulfilled.”
In our faith, one of the hardest things is the concept of belief. We are constantly looking to see something so that we may believe in it; we want the cold, hard facts. Part of strengthening our connection with God is taking a leap of faith; sometimes that requires us to believe in the implausible. Jesus was the unbelievable! It is through our belief that we come to know Jesus.
