MT 11:11-15
In this gospel Jesus tells us how important John the Baptist is. “Amen, I say to you, among those born of women there has been none greater than John the Baptist; yet the least in the Kingdom of Heaven is greater than he.” Jesus is saying that John the Baptist is not like any other human being ,he is very important, but in Heaven John the Baptist is no better than anyone else up there. “From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent are taking it by force.” This is saying that violence occurred at the time of John the Baptist and violence still occurs today. “And if you are willing to accept it, he is Elijah, the one who has to cone. Whoever has ears ought to hear.” John the Baptist is like the prophet Elijah. John clears the way for Jesus and if you are capable of hearing you should listen to John the Baptist’s words.
