MT 9:35-10:1, 5A, 6-8
Creating Shepards
The gospel of Matthew tells us that we must one day should become disciples of God. Jesus sends out his apostles to cure the ill, save the possessed, raise the dead, and cleanse the lepers. Jesus wants the apostles to go through the villages and towns, to cleanse and assist the people. He wants to create shepherds of the disciples so that they can guide the sheep, who are wandering alone and free. He also wants them to go out and spread the new word of God. Jesus, the master, wants to move the hearts of the disciples, by showing them the people of the towns and villages who have necessities. God gives us his son to save us from our sins and to help us go through salvation. So Jesus to help us go through the steps of salvation will make evangelic teachers, who will helps move closer to true salvation.
The summarization of the Gospel of Matthew is the way of truth in the Catholic Church. God wants us to go and spread his message of truth to others. Like Jesus did many years ago by sending his apostles out to preach, heal, and teach, today we do the same thing. Missionaries, men and women of vocation and lay people are teaching, preaching and healing. This gospel allows us to understand that we too are God’s shepherds, and must spread the truth of his salvation. We are the new teachers that will help to develop a strong, authentic, loving, and caring faith. God wants us to show others that “God id good all the time, all the time God is good.” (Fr. Thomas Cardone S.M.)
