LK 3:10-18
In December 13th’s gospel the tax collector and soldier ask questions to try and trick John, but John answers simply, do not exploit and do not use brute force. These questions call us to care for the poor and needy. During the holiday season it can be easy to become focused solely on the self and become too wrapped up in the consumerism of the holiday, but we need to turn outwards and focus on others and give to those in need. The gospel also calls us to act justly and avoid violence.
