LK 7:24-30
In gospel LK: 19:1-10 Jesus has arrived in Jericho and many have planned to go see him as he passed through the town. Zacchaeus, a tax collector wanting to seek Jesus, was also among many who have planned to see him. Due to his short height he had to climb a tree in order to see Jesus. When Jesus saw Zacchaeus, he told him to climb down and that he must stay at his house. The crowd heard this and began to grumble, saying, “He has gone to stay at the house of a sinner.” They disapproved of the tax collector because he had pocketed a lot of money from his own people doing his job. However, Zacchaeus was welcomed with open arms by Jesus and when he came down, he said to the Lord, “Behold, half of my possessions, Lord, I shall give to the poor, and if I have extorted anything from anyone, I shall repay it four times over.” This gospel shows us that Jesus loves us all equally. We are all made in the image and likeness of God, therefore we are all equal in God’s eyes. Also this gospel shows us that we can be saved from our sins and receive salvation if we repent for our sins and make God our number one priority.
