Dear Kellenberg Memorial Families,
You know very well that the true joy which we experience in the family is not superficial; it does not come from material objects, from the fact that everything seems to be going well… True joy comes from a profound harmony between persons, something which we all feel in our hearts and which makes us experience the beauty of togetherness, of mutual support along life’s journey. But the basis of this feeling of deep joy is the presence of God in the family and his love, which is welcoming, merciful, and respectful towards all. God alone knows how to create harmony from differences. But if God’s love is lacking, the family loses its harmony, self-centeredness prevails and joy fades. But the family which experiences the joy of faith communicates it naturally. That family is the salt of the earth and the light of the world; it is the leaven of society.
– Pope Francis
Keeping in mind these words of Pope Francis about the presence of God in the family, we invite you and your family to the Thirtieth Annual Communion Breakfast at Kellenberg Memorial High School. The Communion Breakfast is one of our finest traditions. It is one of the beautiful occasions during the course of the school year when parents, students, and teachers can gather as a school community and share in faith, friendship, and a meal. It is precisely this common faith that unites us in “one heart and one mind.”
The Communion Breakfast will be celebrated on Sunday, April 2, 2017 for students in grades 6, 7, 8, and 9. In acknowledgement of our Thirtieth Anniversary as a school, I have asked Dr. James McBrien ’89 to speak at our Communion Breakfast. Dr. McBrien is a graduate of Kellenberg Memorial and has served as our first Alumni Association President. He has been an active supporter of Kellenberg Memorial since our foundation in 1987.
I hope you can join us on this special day. Please send in your reservations promptly. Reservations must be in by Monday, March 27th. A family that has children in the upper grades may select either the April 2nd Communion Breakfast or the April 9th Communion Breakfast.
The Communion Breakfast will be celebrated on Sunday, April 9, 2017 for students enrolled in grades 10, 11, and 12. Our speaker for this Communion Breakfast will be Mr. Joseph Campo who is the Director of Saint Francis House, a Christ-centered and structured home designed to help young men who need a second chance in life. For many years Joe served as a drug and alcohol counselor and now fulfills the role of “surrogate father” to the young men who live at St. Francis House. He is a Third Order Franciscan and the producer of Grassroots Films. Among some of the more popular films produced by this filming company are The Human Experience and Outcasts. Please send in your reservations promptly. Reservations must be in by Monday, April 3rd. A family that has children in the younger grades may select either the April 2nd Communion Breakfast or the April 9th Communion Breakfast.
We look forward to the pleasure of having you and your entire family join other members of the Kellenberg Memorial Family in this most cherished and holy event.
Bro. Kenneth M. Hoagland, S.M.
