From townofbabylon.com:
Babylon Town Supervisor Rich Schaffer and Councilwoman Jacqueline Gordon would like to encourage residents to make a donation to the Joseph A. Ferriso Memorial Scholarship, which benefits local high school students in our area. Town Board members Tony Martinez, Tom Donnelly and Lindsay Henry as well as Town Clerk Carol Quirk and Tax Receiver Corinne DiSomma are supporting this effort as well. The scholarship was founded in the memory of Joseph Ferriso, a young man who was active in our community until he tragically lost his life in an automobile accident this past January at the age of 19. Donations to the fund will go towards two $1000 scholarships; one for a graduating senior from Copiague High School and one for a graduating senior of Kellenberg Memorial High School.
Joseph Ferriso, a graduate of Kellenberg Memorial High School in Uniondale, was known as a kind, compassionate young man who was very active in the Copiague community. As a member of Boy Scout Troop 284, Joseph constructed a new wood deck with railings and stairs at the Copiague Youth Council Building and was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout in 2014. Joseph was an alter server at Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Copiague, a member of the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra and took part in numerous athletic teams. After graduating high school, Joseph attended Hofstra University, where he was a walk on member of the school’s Division I Lacrosse team.
