Apr 25 2016

For the second week in a row, sophomore Julia Bryant ran to two gold medals. At Saturday’s “Big Blue Invitational,” Bryant joined with Grace Browne, Emma Dougherty, and Nora Bennett  to capture the Sophomore 3200 meter relay, only to return two hours later to join Sarah Newman, Ceara Conroy, and Bennett to be the First Lady Firebird team ever to win the 4 x 800 championship race.

Team leader Gabby Schreib ran to two impressive silver medals in the 100 meter high hurdles and 400 intermediate hurdles. In the latter event, junior Kierstan Cote finished an incredible third in the meet that saw athletes from three states, and the countries of Jamaica and Grenada!

The hurdle crew was particularly impressive with junior Rhea Thomas-Hill running to a huge fourth, and Gillian Blackwood and Megan Carelus running to top league times. Maureen Lewin medaled and scored in the Invitational 800 meters and Kayra Theodore did the same in the high jump.
