LK 4:24-30
Today’s gospel reading reminds us that speaking the truth can be lonely. There are times when we speak about faith or about God or about life issues and may find ourselves feeling rejected or even mocked. Reading this gospel helps us connect to the human Christ, the man who was rejected in his home town of Nazareth. The Nazarenes had seen this man grow up as a child of Joseph. The town folks found it impossible to believe Jesus was fulfilling Isaiah’s prophecies…wasn’t he just the son of a simple man, Joseph?
Take comfort in knowing that when your dedication to your faith leaves you feeling alone, you are in good company; Jesus was thrown out of the synagogue.
