Each year as the season of Lent begins, I often hear friends and family talking about what they plan on giving up for the next forty days. Some people make unrealistic promises that they end up breaking, and others give up nothing at all, believing that fasting from anything for that amount of time is impossible. To me, Lent is not only a time for fasting, but it is also a time to do more. Some of my Lenten promises in the past have involved trying to help others more and also strengthening my relationship with God. I believe Lent is a time of renewal. As I begin the journey of Lent, I hope to renew my relationship with God, and also the family and friends he has blessed me with.
