Luke 5: 27-32
In the Gospel of Luke today, Jesus saw a tax collector named Levi and told Levi “Follow me”. Levi left everything behind and followed him, then Levi had a great banquet with a large crowd of tax collectors for Jesus. The Pharisees complained to Jesus, asking him why does he eat with Tax collectors and sinners. Jesus tells the Pharisees that the healthy don’t need a doctor, but the sick do and that he has come to call sinners to repentance. This reading is a wonderful example of how Jesus came for the weak and faithless. Although we know Jesus came for all, the Pharisees had a hard time accepting that Jesus did not come to this Earth as a King, controlling everything and everyone. This should be a great joy to all who read it because Jesus tells us again how he’s there for the least of us.
