MT 23:1-12
Jesus tells the people of Sodom and Gomorrah, “Though your sins be like scarlet, they may become white as snow; though they be crimson red, they may become white as wool.” When he addresses the people, he is trying to show them that there is no sin God cannot forgive. So long as you send your sins up to God and ask for forgiveness, you will find redemption. If you obey His teachings, you will find the goodness in the Lord and those around you. If you rebuke God, he is always forgiving. Unless you search for God and look for his grace, you will never know the “Real” Him.
When Jesus speaks to the crowds, he laid all eyes upon the Pharisees. He told the people to do as they were told by the Pharisees, but do not follow their example. Jesus is trying to explain that our only “True” leader, father, and master are God. Do not follow the examples of those who hypocritically preach the values of faith, yet indulge themselves in earthly pleasures. No matter what happens, GOD LOVES YOU, and He does not want a materialistic world to cloud His everlasting grace. Those who exalt themselves will be humbled before God and those who humble themselves will be exalted. Do not lead astray His flock, and pursue His majesty with all you have. God loves us with such an overwhelming passion; Christ was willing to die for us. We must humble ourselves, and put God before our own earthly desires and always remember He is there for all of us.
