Position: Math Teacher at Kellenberg Memorial High School, Grades 9-12

Requirements for Applicants

  • State experience working in the field of Mathematics and/or in teaching Mathematics
  • State familiarity with use of an iPad (as this is the primary means of teaching and learning used)
  • State commitment and ability to work well with colleagues and to be able to delegate responsibilities

Responsibilities for the Position

  • Teach 5 periods, supervise one period, and be ‘on-call’ to potentially substitute one period
  • Build a warm and structured classroom environment and abide by school-wide practices for classroom management
  • Work with mentor teacher during the first year to help ensure a culture where students can achieve at high levels
  • Implement curriculum through lesson planning and follow school-wide protocols for developing and documenting syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, and rubrics
  • Track, monitor, and assume responsibility for academic progress of students
  • Collaborate with colleagues on the creation of coursework, assessments and other items
  • Analyze assessment data and daily data, including homework and classroom assessments, and use your findings to inform instruction
  • Attend all Faculty and Department meetings
  • Keep communication on pertinent information regarding expectations, grading, and content with students and parents throughout the year
  • Keep open and continual communication with guidance counselors concerning student work and behavior
  • Work with course director and department chair to analyze data, revise practices, norm on team-wide initiatives, and discuss issues with a solutions-oriented mindset
  • Keep essential communication with the appropriate member(s) of the Administration on all items
  • Capitalize on opportunities for professional development whenever possible

Kellenberg Memorial High School is currently looking for enthusiastic science teachers to join our faculty. Our curriculum is expanding to meet the needs of our students and additional faculty are needed in Chemistry, Physics, or Laboratory Coordination. A bachelor’s degree in science is required; however, education certification is not required.

Kellenberg Memorial High School is a private Catholic School founded in the Marianist tradition on the philosophy of “One Heart, One Mind”. We have robust extracurricular activities like Science Olympiad, a robotics team, health sciences, and numerous other STEM activities for our students and teachers. Our curriculum is accredited by the Middle States Association and our students do not sit for New York State Regents exams. Students are assessed via trimester/semester exams and a comprehensive exam which are constructed entirely according to the curriculum provided.

Minimal Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree in a science field
  • A desire to educate adolescents in a private Catholic school environment

Preference

  • Training in high school education pedagogy

Responsibilities

  • Plan and develop engaging science lessons that foster science literacy, inquiry, and promote critical thinking skills.
  • Facilitate laboratory activity for your classes each cycle
  • Develop lessons that incorporate demonstrations, hands-on learning, and draw connections between topics throughout the year.
  • Coordinate and collaborate within the department to enhance student achievement and peak student curiosity in the world around them
  • Contribute to the trimester/semester and comprehensive exams written for your subject area and academic level.
  • Moderate or co-moderate at least one extracurricular STEM activity which includes a stipend.
  • Developing rapport and maintaining good relationships with students, parents, school faculty, and Administration.

Title: Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Department: Guidance Department
Reports To: Assistant Principal for Guidance

GENERAL EXPECTATIONS:

The Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) works directly with the Guidance Department on student referrals from counselors, teachers, and parents in order to help deal with issues involving mental and emotional health.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain regular communication with the Assistant Principal for Guidance and other school administrators about serious student cases and issues
  • Maintain regular communication with parents and guardians to build positive and trusting relationships with students and families
  • Manages crisis situations as they arise
  • Serves as a professional resource for school staff in areas of supporting families and students in crisis
  • Assesses high-risk situations; makes immediate recommendations and referrals in efforts to ensure child safety and reduce or eliminate risk factors
  • Works with students and their families to develop strategies, including providing referrals to outside agencies, for addressing the safety, emotional, and basic needs of the students and their families
  • Performs other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

The ideal candidate will have exceptional organizational ability, strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to engage professionally with both students and parents, as well as all members of the school staff and administration. Candidate will have a clear vision to leverage extensive knowledge and experience of adolescent mental health in order to best serve the needs of our students and families. Spanish language proficiency, as well as experience in a school setting, is a plus. Must possess LCSW or LMSW.

Title: Administrative Assistant to the College Placement Office
Department: Guidance Department
Reports To: College Placement Admissions Team 
Start Date: August 3, 2021

GENERAL EXPECTATIONS:

The Administrative Assistant to the College Placement Office is a full-time supporting role position that facilitates the functioning of all aspects of the college application process. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate transcript requests and background checks
  • Submit all supporting documentation to all colleges for all seniors
  • Collect and coordinate all scholarship applications and data for both the graduation program and the school profile
  • Coordinate all letters of recommendation
  • Coordinate and distribute junior narratives
  • Serve as SAT and ACT testing coordinator
  • Troubleshoot student application issues
  • Assist with college representative visits, as well as College Nights for both the Junior and Senior divisions
  • Assist the College Placement team with daily administrative needs
  • Performs other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

The ideal candidate will have exceptional organizational ability, strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to engage professionally with both students and parents, as well as all members of the College Placement staff. Candidate should be familiar with Naviance, as well as Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets. Spanish language proficiency is a plus.
