Dear Juniors and Parents:
At Kellenberg Memorial we have established an academic program that includes four full years of study in all subject areas. Our goal is to provide a liberal arts education that prepares each student for higher academic pursuits. The juniors have been working throughout their first three years at Kellenberg Memorial to build up a momentum in preparation for eventual collegiate study. We would like to announce an opportunity to assist in their successful transition into college.
Beginning on Friday, June 21, 2019, and continuing until Friday, June 28, 2019, the Science department will offer a seminar in Chemistry. The purpose of the seminar is to give the students extensive introductory exposure to college level courses in Chemistry and reduce the anxiety with which many students venture into these courses. The seminar will be particularly valuable to those students whose future studies might include Chemistry as part of their collegiate program, especially those students expecting to take the SAT II in Chemistry. Primarily students who plan on studying in the medical, pharmaceutical, health related and science related fields will find this seminar to be essential as they begin their respective college level programs. This seminar will allow the students to explore advanced areas of Chemistry which cannot be covered during the ordinary parameters of the junior year course. Many graduates who have participated in the Senior seminars have mentioned how valuable they are and we had more than 70 students participate in last year’s Chemistry Seminar.
The seminar will take place in three-hour sessions from 9:00 – 12:00 each day. During the week of March 25 – 29, 2019, the Juniors will receive a presentation in their Chemistry classes by their teacher concerning the seminar program. Juniors who wish to take advantage of this program will have the opportunity to register for it through their current Chemistry classes. The students can obtain a registration form from the KMHS website. There is no charge for this seminar.
The advertisement flyer is available on the KMHS website and in this email as well. Please feel free to contact my office should you have any questions concerning participation in this seminar.
Sincerely,
Mr. Kenneth J. Conrade
Assistant Principal for Academics
