2013 Advent Reflection by Alannah Quinn

Matthew 17:9A, 10-13
In this passage from Matthew, the disciples ask Jesus why it is said that Elijah the prophet must come first to the Earth. Jesus explains that Elijah has in fact already come, but the people of the Earth have destroyed him and they will suffer for it. The disciples realized that he was speaking about John the Baptist. From this reading, I realize that God sends us messages through other people. Most of the time we choose to ignore what God is saying to us, like the people did with John the Baptist. But if we really listen to God and do what He tells us, we can see all the great things God does for us every day.
