In a string of athletic victories, three Firebird bowlers travelled up to Buffalo for the state tournament. Outstanding athletes Juniors Chloe Horstmann and Kerri Callahan and Senior Emma Dolan all qualified for the tournament based on their regular season average.
The girls not only had an excellent season leading up to the tournament, but performed their best at the state tournament.
Each athlete bowled five games in the qualifying rounds. Kerri moved on to the championship ladder as the second seed. She bowled a 213 in her semi final match which pushed her to the championship match, in which she bowled a 240. Kerri became state champion winning the entire tournament.
Coach Frisina said, “Kerri Callahan is one of the best bowlers Kellenberg has ever seen. She is an amazing young lady on and off the alleys and will for sure accomplish great things in her future!”
Emma Dolan came in 13th place for the state and Chloe Horstmann came in 7th for the state.
Coach Frisina noted that this year’s team was the first to bowl on the new lanes in the FCAA building. She also said, “This year’s bowling season was something to remember forever. We had a spectacular season and we were a team that never gave up.”
This marks a successful end to the winter sports season at Kellenberg. The bowling team has proved itself as a strong force at the Bird’s Nest.
With this major win, the Bowling Team is extremely proud of all three bowlers and looks forward to a successful season next year.
