Congratulations to Marissa Georgiadis, a sixth grader in the Brother Joseph C. Fox Latin School, who was chosen as a finalist winner from our school in the annual “There Ought To Be A Law” contest sponsored by Senator Kemp Hannon. She attended the award ceremony on May 22, at the Levittown Hall in Hicksville, along with twenty-six other finalists from participating schools in the local areas. Marissa’s law encouraged the institution of safety measures for pedestrians who enjoy walking, running, or riding their bicycles at night. They should be required to wear bright clothing or reflectors. This law would help people in cars to see the pedestrians at night and avoid causing them any harm. Pedestrians would feel much safer and be more confident while enjoying their exercising at night. Marissa received a certificate of recognition, took a picture with Senator Hannon, and enjoyed refreshments with students and parents at this award ceremony.
