On Thursday, December 4, Latin School C.R.O.S.S. members met for what has become a regular project for the group: making cheese sandwiches for the I.N.N. (Interfaith Nutrition Network) in Hempstead. This project is a continuation of the Food Drive efforts since money collected during the Food Drive was put toward the purchase of the supplies used to make the sandwiches. Students work in groups, “assembly line” style, to make the sandwiches and bag them with a small condiment package of mustard or mayonnaise. Using 70 loaves of bread, the C.R.O.S.S. members were able to make more than 800 sandwiches. The students then package everything neatly and the sandwiches are immediately delivered to the I.N.N. where they are served over the next two days. Latin School C.R.O.S.S. members will finish out the trimester by organizing a prayer service in honor of Our Lady of Guadalupe on Thursday, December 11 and participating in another annual tradition, Christmas caroling at The Sunrise after the first trimester exams conclude.
