Lenten Prayer Reflection by Eddie Cramsie

Matthew 9: 14-15
In the Gospel of Matthew today, John asked Jesus the reasoning behind fasting. Jesus said “Can the wedding guests mourn as long as the bridegroom is with them? The day will come when the bridegroom is taken away from them, and then they will fast.” At first I did not understand what this passage truly meant but, I see how even now people don’t understand the reason behind fasting. Jesus tells us that one day we will not have the luxuries that we have right now and that fasting shows us how lucky we all really have things.
