MT 25: 31-46
This Gospel talks about the last judgement on judgement day when “the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him.” Jesus said to his disciples that the Son of Man will separate the people into two groups, one on his right and one on his left. The group on his right are blessed by God, and they will spend eternal life in heaven because they helped the poor, the hungry, the sick, and those in prison. Jesus says to them, “Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me.” However, the other group are cursed to eternal punishment because they did not help those less fortunate people, so Jesus says to them, “Amen, I say to you,
what you did not do for one of these least ones, you did not do for me.”
This Lent, we should all work on doing nice things for others and being kinder to everyone. As shown in this gospel, caring for those less fortunate will lead you to eternal life. It is also important to remember that you can find God in anyone, and we should be doing acts of kindness to help other people and not expect recognition for that kindness.
