MT 26:14-25
In this Gospel reading, it tells us about Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve who betrays Jesus. It shows him taking the payment of thirty pieces of silver that he was promised by the chief priest if he turned Jesus over to them. Then, Jesus tells them to get ready and help prepare for the Last Supper. Later at the Last Supper, Jesus says to them: “Amen, I say to you, one of you will betray me.” At that moment, all of them start looking around saying, “Surely it is not I, Lord?” As Judas dips his hand into the bowl, symbolizing that he will betray Jesus, he says to Jesus “Surely it is not I, Rabbi?” Jesus knows that Judas is going to betray him, yet he continues on with his mission of salvation; he does not let this stop him. This shows you that God is always forgiving no matter how terrible your sin may seem. We must always remember that we can always return back to the comforting arms of Christ through repentance. It also shows us that if we learn to forgive others for what they may have done to hurt us, we can grown in our relationship with them. Forgiveness is a beautiful thing. Here, you can also see how God loves each and every one of us unconditionally and is always there for us. If we can learn to put our trust in God’s love and love him with all our being, mind and soul: nothing is ever impossible.
