Kellenberg’s Nicolette Dilluvio said before teeing off Tuesday that she was worried a steady rain would adversely impact her score.
A birdie on the first hole eased those concerns and set the tone for the day.
Dilluvio shot a 4-over-par 76 to finish second in the CHSAA girls golf state championship at Eisenhower Blue. Staten Island’s Sarah Perine was the winner with a 71.
“I was nervous because I didn’t think I would play well. The conditions were really rough,” Dilluvio said. “The first tee, I was thinking ‘hit it on the fairway and get it started.’ I hit a good tee shot and I got comfortable.”
