The NCC Center for Catholic Studies is pleased to present a conference, Protecting Religious and Civil Rights, on the history, mission, and activities of the Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights on Saturday, September 20, 2014 in the Multipurpose Room of the College Center Building at the Garden City campus of Nassau Community College. Talks start at 11 AM and conclude around 1:15 PM to be followed by refreshments/luncheon.
The main speaker is William Donohue, Ph.D., President of the Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights. Dr. Donohue will speak on the topic “Protecting Religious and Civil Rights: An Autobiographical Reflection.” This lecture will be immediately followed by a Panel Discussion, “The Historical and Contemporary Relevance and Impact of the of The Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights.” The panel consists of leading Long Island Catholic leaders who are committed to the mission of the Catholic League. They are: Father Philip Eichner, S.M.; Brother Lawrence Syriac, S.M.; James Krug; Richard Hinshaw, and Monsignor Robert Batule.
The event is free of any charge but registration and a one day parking permit are required.
All attendees must register by contacting the NCC Office of Lifelong Learning at (516) 572-7472, Monday through Friday, from 9 AM to 4 PM. A one-day paper parking permit, registration confirmation, and campus map will be mailed to you by the Office of Lifelong Learning at the address you indicate.
Attendees should be aware that failure to display the one-day paper parking permit on the inside dashboard of their vehicle, or otherwise parking illegally, could result in a Nassau County parking ticket being issued to them. In order for attendees to receive the paper parking permit, registration confirmation, and campus map sufficiently prior to the conference, registration requests should be received by the Office of Lifelong Learning by September 12, 2014.
