A Kellenberg Memorial Summer Science Camp Experience
When: Thursday, Aug. 17th to Wednesday, Aug. 23rd
Who: Any Kellenberg student currently in grades 8 to 11. Total of 26 students* and 4 moderators (Bro. Nigel, Mr. Wevers, Ms. Vigario and Ms. Sindone)
What: Trip leaves Kellenberg on Aug. 17th in two minibuses. We will travel down to Columbia, SC arriving the evening of Aug. 20th. On Aug. 21st, we will be in position to observe the first Total Solar Eclipse to cross the USA from the West Coast to the East Coast since 1918.
Along the way, both down and back, we will be stopping at a number of Science museums, research and engineering facilities (partial list includes the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory in Palisades, NY, the National Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C., etc.) The intent is to cover numerous Science areas, Engineering and Technology. At least one moderate hike will be involved and some of the nights we will be camping.
Cost: $620.00. Covers hotels, meals, and activity related expenses. We would suggest an additional $150.00 for incidentals. Proper eyewear needed to view the Solar Eclipse will be provided.
*If more than 26 students apply, the moderators will determine who will go based on their membership in Kellenberg’s STEM activities and interest in Science.
