Meghan (Connolly) Maloof Berdellans ’09 is a seasoned digital marketing and real estate professional. She began her career in New York City, where she led successful projects ranging from viral rainbow bagels in Brooklyn to Pope Francis with the Vatican & Archdiocese of New York, and beyond. After visiting South Florida in 2013, Meghan resolved to bring innovative technology to the real estate and relocation industries in a growing and thriving region, which is what inspired her to obtain her real estate license and become a broker.
Meghan firmly believes in the power of a multi-pronged approach to be successful in any industry: interpersonal relationships & networking, strong content strategy, continuing education, and authenticity. In addition to her thriving real estate business, Meg most recently partnered with the #1 liquid collagen company in the world, opening her own e-franchise due to her belief in the product and strong sales record.
Meghan holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Villanova University and sits as associate director and executive board member on The Endometriosis Coalition, a Los Angeles-based 501(c)(3). Her other projects include work with Beaux Arts Miami, an organization of Miami’s most active women who support the Lowe Art Museum at the University of Miami, where she sits on the executive board as corresponding secretary and communications chair. She also sits on the executive board as executive secretary of Comfort Crusaders, a Miami non-profit, offering time and talent to benefit those in need. Meg also sits as the current president/chair of the Young Professional Philanthropists (YPP) Circle with Miami Women Who Rock.
Meg has been married to her husband, Albert Maloof Berdellans III, since June 2019 and they are active members of the Miami Chapter of Legatus, founded by Tom Monaghan – an entrepreneur who also founded Domino’s Pizza and Ave Maria University. Meg proudly sits on the board of the Legatus Miami Chapter and the National Board of Governors Marketing Committee. She and Albert are parishioners of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Coral Gables and actively live their faith.
What inspired you to pursue a career in entrepreneurship?
After graduating from Villanova in 2013, I briefly had a 9 to 5 job in NYC in portfolio management and quickly realized that it wasn’t where God was calling me. Approximately at that same time, I met my now husband who encouraged me to pursue entrepreneurship. I learned that although I work more than 40 hours a week, It does not feel like work because I am doing what I love.
How do you think your time at Kellenberg Memorial helped to prepare you for your success in your academic and professional pursuits?
I learned so much about navigating my day-to-day life with the structure and values that were ingrained in us at Kellenberg. I have been able to grow my businesses through structure, showing up on time, and unapologetically incorporating prayer into everything I do.
Additionally, I currently live in Miami, where the Spanish language is widely spoken. My Latin studies from Kellenberg have helped me become proficient in Spanish. I also believe that studying Latin expanded my vocabulary overall and has made me a better writer, which is an integral part of my professional and personal life.
Do you have any advice for current students or young alumni who are interested in becoming entrepreneurs?
Never stop learning. No matter what you do, continuing education is a critical part of success and growth. One of my dear friends who I mentor lives by the phrase ‘learn more to earn more’ and she is absolutely correct.
Trust where you’re being led. I have found that my life’s journey has led me to the very moment where I am today professionally.
Network with people. You’ll be amazed at what happens when you expand your network and get involved in your community, whether digitally, in person, or both. I’m an advocate for both!
Do you have any favorite teachers, coaches, or club moderators from your time at Kellenberg Memorial?
Mr. Bonagura and Fr. Philip Eichner, S.M. (RIP) – my two incredible Latin mentors and friends.
