Miles Francisque ’23 is a distinguished student leader at Howard University, where he has been named the 50th Mister Howard University for the 2026–2027 academic year, one of the institution’s highest honors. This prestigious role recognizes a student who exemplifies leadership, character, and service while serving as an ambassador for the university. Prior to this achievement, Miles served as Mister College of Arts and Sciences (COAS), where he worked to foster connection, expand opportunities, and advocate for his peers across campus.
A graduate of Kellenberg Memorial High School in 2023, Miles built a strong foundation through his involvement in the Drama Club and Crew Team, earning the 2022 MVP Award and the 2023 Bernie Ward Commitment Award. He credits Kellenberg with instilling the discipline, faith, and leadership values that continue to guide him today. Committed to leading with empathy and purpose, Miles views his role as a platform to uplift others, strengthen community, and inspire future generations to pursue excellence.
Who at Kellenberg had the most meaningful impact on you, and how did that relationship shape who you are today?
The most meaningful influences for me at Kellenberg were participating in the Drama Club and being a member of the Crew team. Under Mr. Murphy’s guidance, the cast of every production got to take on challenging roles and dialogue, learn how to work together, and witness the results of our hard work in exceptional productions. Similarly, stepping up as a leader on the Crew team was one of my proudest moments as a Kellenberg Crew member. Winning MVP (2022) and the Bernie Ward Commitment award (2023) helped strengthen my confidence and set the foundation for my future successes.
How did your time at Kellenberg help prepare you for your journey after graduation and guide your path to Howard University?
Kellenberg provided more than an education. It gave me structure and discipline. The emphasis on accountability and excellence prepared me to step into college with confidence. When I arrived at Howard University, I wasn’t just focused on academics; I was ready to engage, lead, and grow. Kellenberg helped me understand that success is built daily, from a strong foundation and faith, and that mindset guided my transition and continues to shape my journey.
Being named the 50th Mr. Howard University is an incredible honor—what does this recognition mean to you personally and for your community?
Being named the 50th Mr. Howard University is deeply meaningful. ‘Mr. Howard’ is a prestigious ambassador title for a male student who embodies the university’s values, leadership, and spirit at events, while serving as a role model. Personally, it represents the culmination of hard work, resilience, and a commitment to something greater than me. But beyond that, it’s not just my achievement; it belongs to my family, my community, and everyone who invested in me along the way. It’s a platform to serve, to inspire, and to represent excellence in a way that honors those who came before me and motivates those who will come after me.
Kellenberg emphasizes faith, service, and leadership—how have those values stayed with you in college and beyond?
The values of faith, service, and leadership that were emphasized at Kellenberg have remained a foundation in my life. Faith keeps me grounded, especially during uncertain moments. Service reminds me that success is not just about personal achievement, but about uplifting others. And leadership challenges me to be intentional with my actions and decisions. In college and in my life, these values guide how I engage with my community and how I envision success. Ephesians 2:10 (NIV) states: “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
What advice would you give to current Kellenberg students who hope to make an impact in college and in their communities?
My advice to current Kellenberg students is to be fearless. Take advantage of every opportunity, even the ones that challenge you or feel uncomfortable. Growth happens when you step outside of what’s familiar. Also, stay true to your values—who you are matters just as much as what you achieve. Build friendships, and remember that your journey is unique. If you remain disciplined, open-minded, and focused on your goals, success will surely follow.
