Junior Nora Bennett and sophomore Maureen Lewin both ran faster than the Kellenberg school record for the rigorous 5k cross country course at the 75th annual “EJJ Hermann Invitational” in Utica, NY.
Bennett’s time of 20:35 and Lewin’s time of 20:52 helped the team to a third place finish in the 42 team meet with schools mostly from upstate New York and Canada. Kaitlin Stordeur had run 20:56 in 2007.
Junior Julia Bryant and sophomores Brianna Lausev and Maya Richardson rounded out the varsity team’s scoring. Emma Dougherty, Clare Calabro, Erin Dougherty, Maggie Cannatella, and Bridget Lapham led the JV squad to a second place finish to upstate power Niskyuna H.S. Dougherty and Lapham later served as guest altar servers for the Saturday evening Mass at St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Cooperstown where the team is pictured above.
