The Speech and Debate Team is open to all students in grades 9 through 12. Practice is held during the week where students develop their public speaking, debating and acting abilities. There are seven speech categories to choose from. The debate program offers two types of debate, Lincoln Douglas or Public Forum. Students can compete on the novice, junior varsity and varsity level. The team also competes in student congress, where students write, propose and debate legislation. The team has consistently qualified for the New York State Forensic League’s State Championship and the National Catholic Forensic League’s National Tournament. The speech and debate schedule can be found on the website for the Long Island Forensic League. You can follow the team on Twitter @KMspeech_debate, on Instagram at Kmhs_speech_debate or check out the team’s website by clicking here.
