Senior Gabby Schreib ran to three silver medal performances and qualified in those three events for the New York State Federation Track and Field Championships at Saturday’s Catholic High Schools Intersectional Championships. Schreib ran a lifetime best of 14.70 in the 100meter high hurdles, a season’s best in the long jump of 17’10”, and finished second in the 400 Intermediate hurdles. Teammate Kierstan Côte was third in the intermediates as was Gillian Blackwood in the high hurdles.
Those performances, along with the winning 3200 meter relay team of Maureen Lewin, Grace Browne, Ceara Conroy, and Deirdre Lewin helped lead the Firebirds to a third place team finish in the 36 team championship meet with Catholic schools from as far away in the state association as Buffalo competing.
The all-schools highly competitive Federation meet is to be held at Cicero-North H.S. On June 9-10.
