Last Saturday the boys varsity soccer team went to New Hyde Park to work with the TOPSoccer of New Hyde Park.
“TOPSoccer (The Outreach Program for Soccer) is a community-based training and team placement program for young athletes with disabilities, organized by youth soccer association volunteers. The program is designed to bring the opportunity of learning and playing soccer to any boy or girl, who has a mental or physical disability,” (TOPSoccer’s website).
For the last 15 years, the boys soccer program has worked along with history teacher and former varsity assistant soccer coach Mr. Matthew Bursig and his family assisting the youth of the New Hyde Park Soccer Club. This year once again, Kellenberg Memorial athletes had the opportunity to work the athletes the TOPSoccer program focusing on drills and playing in a scrimmage game.
Thanks to all who helped make this experience possible.
