The League Championship on Saturday was an unforgettable day for the Lady Firebirds track team, beginning with a gold medal performance in javelin by Alanna Pepe. From there, the momentum only continued to build, powering the Lady Firebirds to an incredible second-place team finish at the League Championships!

Maya Hadpawat shattered a 16-year-old school record in the 400 meters on her way to earning gold. Maya continued her incredible day by capturing silver in the 100-meter high hurdles and bronze in the long jump. Abigail Woodruff soared to a personal-best jump of 16’8”, earning herself the League Championship title in long jump. Keierra Ndukwu jumped to bronze medal in the triple jump, while Christina Cyrus sprinted to a second-place finish in the 200 meters.
The hurdle crew of Harper Lollo, Christina Cyrus, and Gabriella Perrotta dominated the competition by sweeping the 400 hurdles. Rose Suero placed 4th in the 100 hurdles.
According to Coach Green, “In the 3000 meters, Hayden Nolan battled her way to a third-place finish.”
The steeplechase duo of Maddy Forquignon and Brooke Corbett earned second- and third-place finishes, respectively. The throwing squad of Paris Boissard, Zuri Louis, Alanna Pepe, and Marley Dyasi completely took over the podium in shot put, placing second through fifth, respectively. Marley Dyasi returned in discus and delivered a personal-best throw to earn the championship title, alongside strong performances from teammates Molly Freeman, Paris Boissard, and Zuri Louis.
The 4×100 relay team of Christina Cyrus, Abby Woodruff, Keierra Ndukwu, and Harper Lollo raced to a second-place finish while also setting a personal best time. The 4×400 relay team of Gabby Perrotta, Mariella Wenerski, Imani Gabriel, and Chalize Marmol, along with the 4×800 relay team of Mailee Umowski, Xena Pierre Charles, Brooke Corbett, and Julie Baldacchino, both battled to impressive third-place finishes.
