In a thrilling performance, the Blue Team secured a BTV against the Gold Team at the annual Blue and Gold show on Saturday, May 10 at Hofstra University.
Beginning the evening, announcer senior Delaney Clark, introduced each team’s theme: Mission BLUEpossible and Saving Golden Paradise. Following, seniors Cadence Martin, Kendra Moran, and Madeline Naughton sang the national anthem. Fr. Thomas Cardone, S.M., then gave an invocation, referring to Mary as a lovely lady dressed in blue who is arrayed in gold.
Kicking off the show, the Blue team took a trip to a galaxy far away. Narrators Sienna Chungata, Madeline Naughton, and Erin O’Connor guided the audience on an intergalactic journey. The space cadets of Entrance, the astronauts of Jazz, the aliens of Hip Hop, the stars of Tap, and the ice guards of Tumbling danced their hearts out to save planet Blue.
One of the Blue Captains, senior Myranda Chamorro, alongside Isabella Silva, remarks on how transformative Kellenberg’s Blue and Gold has been for her over her past seven years. “From being just an entrance girl to being picked captain was a dream. The work and decoration each girl laid out truly explains why I do Blue and Gold and I will forever be proud of my team. BTV 2025!”
While the Blue team traveled to a galaxy light year away, the Gold team embarked on a mission to save an Earth-bound tropical island. Senior narrators Emma Canty, Annabelle Kashimawo, and Ayana Key traveled throughout the Golden island, encountering the lifeguards of Entrance, the surf-shop workers of Jazz, the evil scientists of Tap, the bikers of Hip Hop, and the surfers of Tumbling before bringing harmony to the island.
Senior Angelina Iacono, a Gold Captain alongside Jayden Fanuko, has been a part of the Gold Entrance and Hip Hop teams during her time at Kellenberg, “To me, being Gold Captain was more than just a title. It was a leadership role which brought me a new sense of responsibility. I knew from the first day of being on entrance that I wanted to be captain one day.”
“Being captain wasn’t the easiest task because it required a lot of hard work, compromise, time management, and ‘thinking outside of the box’ while also making quick decisions,” Angelina continues, “I would love nothing more than to have a chance to be Gold Captain again. There were also many positives and fun moments while my co-captain, Jayden, and I worked together. I will forever be grateful to have been a part of this special program!”
The tradition that is Kellenberg’s Blue and Gold show extends to Maria Regina and St. Agnes’ high school days. Because of this long-standing effort, Kellenberg alumni, students, and faculty flocked to David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex to watch the show.
This annual day of excitement encapsulates the dedication shown by students and faculty to the Blue and Gold effort, proving that even through competition, community triumphs for Kellenberg.
