Kellenberg students visited Manhattan’s famous financial district on March 13. This trip included members of the History, Business, and Finance Clubs to learn more about their fields.
The day began with a tour of Trinity Church located opposite Wall Street. The church is known for being the burial site of Alexander Hamilton. Members were then given a tour of St. Paul’s Chapel, an extension of the Trinity Church. Historical figures like George Washington made this place their spiritual home. These tours highlighted the rich history of the financial district,
Following the church tours, the group made its way to the New York Stock Exchange. James Genaro, Designated Market Maker at the Stock Exchange, gave a tour of the building itself and the roles within it. While a lot of the jobs are now being performed by robots, people still play a significant role at the exchange.
Senior Anthony Mazamuto shared, “The tour was great, and seeing trading up close gave me a whole new perspective on what it’s like to trade on the stock market.”
The group then went to St. Peter’s Church for a group mass. Following mass, the students went to Manhattan’s famous Little Italy to eat at Paesano’s for lunch. The group then returned to Kellenberg for the end of the day.
This trip was extremely informative and served as a great bridge between all three clubs. It served as an excellent opportunity to experience the vibrant history of the financial district.
