On November 3 our Girls Varsity volleyball team won their championship game for the third year in a row continuing the team’s legacy.
The girls geared up for the game training and practicing for months prior during their very successful regular season. At St. Dominic’s high school in Oyster Bay, the girls versed St. Anthony’s and dominated the court in a 3-0 sweep.
This was certainly a season of highs and lows for the team, but despite this the girls won the League Championship by maintaining their mental toughness and keeping consistent in their hard work.
Senior Julianna Lucie won AVCA All American Award for an absolutely outstanding performance. When asked about her award Julianna remarked, “It was so rewarding to see that all of my hard work had paid off. More than anything, this award reminded me that I couldn’t have done this alone. I am so grateful for my teammates who constantly lifted me up when I was down, and for the incredible Kellenberg coaching staff who pushed me each practice to be a better player and leader. I couldn’t be where I am today without the unconditional support of my parents, coaches, and especially from the Kellenberg Volleyball family we’ve built here”
Additionally, senior Angela Bush received the Offensive Player of the Year award for an exceptional offensive performance all season.
Winning this game allowed the girls to secure their spot at the state championship tournament in Buffalo. Overall, this win secured the girls’ status and was truly representative of the team’s persistence all season.
