The Kellenberg family extended its wings on October 4th for our annual Open House, where we proudly welcomed over 2,392 people.
Upon entrance, families were ushered into the auditorium to partake in prayer led by Mr. Moran and Mrs. Mulligan. Each tour was led by a faculty member, who was accompanied by a Kellenberg graduate and three National Honor Society members – all of whom volunteered their Saturday to assist prospective firebirds in their school searches.
Each tour guided families around the expansive school, placing special emphasis on where the incoming freshmen or Latin School students would have most of their classes. Following the academic portion, the groups were then brought into the newly renovated gymnasium, featuring tables highlighting the more than 80 clubs Kellenberg has to offer.
The final portion of the tour was held in the Firebird Center for Arts and Athletics (F.C.A.A.). Inside the new building, current student-athletes represented their respective sports in the athletic presentation.
Groups were then shown multiple artistic opportunities, with special presentations from band students and the Drama Club. Finally, the tours concluded in the Maria Regina Chapel, where the apostolic aspect of Kellenberg was highlighted.
The large number of students that worked the event is a testament to the school spirit here at Kellenberg. Guests were unable to walk even five feet without seeing the smiling face of a current student or faculty member.
“It was my pleasure to volunteer my time to help Kellenberg,” shared Senior Shyla Shoen.
“I took genuine pride and satisfaction in being able to represent Kellenberg Memorial and our welcoming community fostered by faculty, staff, and students alike. It was a memorable experience to speak with numerous families and showcase the environment that Kellenberg truly is,” says Senior Sophia Venturino.
The school was absolutely teeming with firebirds, there to ensure that the nest is in good hands once it’s their time to spread their wings and fly.
