On Saturday, October 19th the Varsity Football team traveled to Staten Island and improved the record to 5-2 by defeating St. Peter’s 49-17. The Firebird offense led the way scoring on their first seven possessions.
Jordan Delucia increased his season touchdown total to 20 after bringing 4 carries into the end zone and taking his first reception 75 yards to the house, Jordan finished the day with over 300 all purpose yards.
Quarterback Dan Settino was able to fund receiver Maximus Mongelli twice in the end zone for touchdown passes of 45 and 20 yards.
Griffin Chernoff played both sides of the ball carrying the ball for 60 rushing yards and accounting for 6 tackles.
Anthony Bradshaw also accounted for 6 tackles including 2 tackles for loss.
Playing two ways on the line senior captain Sean Foley contributed with a sack on defense to slow the Eagles’ passing attack while Keith Curran recovered a fumble and RJ Tocco recorded an interception.
Currently sitting in second place the Firebird close out the regular season on Saturday, October 26th when they host Christ the King at Mitchell Field, kickoff is at 1:30 PM.
