Gospel LK 3:1-6
In this Gospel, the Word of God comes to John, son of Zechariah and Jesus’s cousin. He fulfills the prophecy of Isaiah by proclaiming the Word through the region of Jordan, saying “Prepare the way of the Lord, make straight his paths. Every valley shall be filled and every mountain and hill shall be made low. The winding roads shall be made straight, and the rough ways made smooth, and all flesh shall see the salvation of God.” John acts as the forerunner of Christ, preparing the world to receive Him. Likewise, in this Advent season, we must get ready for the coming of Christ. We should repent and prepare ourselves for the arrival of His glory.
