Led by Brianna Lausev’s 15:18.96 performance for the 2.5 mile course, the Lady Firebird Cross Country team won the “Large School Race” at the 29th annual Wilton Invitational held at the renown “Allen Meadows” course in Wilton, Ct. Lausev’s time in her fourth place finish was the team’s second fastest time ever on the course behind current NCAA indoor 800 meter record holder and KMHS alumna, Jazmine Fray. Fellow junior Maya Richardson and freshman Ashley Minns ran to times that place them on the KMHS all-time top ten list. Seniors Julia Bryant and Anita Mikowski rounded out the scoring. First year Cross Country runner Lauren Bernic led the Junior varsity team of herself, Claire Burns, Clare Calabro, Olivia D’Amico, Catherine Cooke, Molly Simons, and Theresa Fox to a dominant win in the fifteen team field. One of the highlights of the day for the dedicated team was the personalized inspirational speech given to them by renown International sports commentator, Larry Rawson, pictured here with the motivated squad.
