Led by six girls finishing in the top dozen, Maureen Lewin (2nd), Brianna Lausev (3rd), Maya Richardson (7th), Ashley Minns (8th), Nora Bennett (11th), and Julia Bryant (12th), the “Lady Firebirds” ran to their fourth consecutive NSCHSGAA Cross Country Championship Title upending favored Sacred Heart and five other league schools.
Lewin and Lausev’s times on the often hilly Sunken Meadow St. Park’s 5-kilometer course are now #4 and #6 on the all-time KMHS performer list. A 1-2-3-4 finish by Claire Burns, Lauren Bernic, Bridget Lapham, and Erin Doherty shored by the team victory in the JV team championship race.
Three other Kellenberg girls, Maggie Cannatella, Catherine Cooke, and Ceili Donnelly all finished in the top ten. The day was topped off with the naming of senior Julia Bryant as the NSCHSGAA Scholar-Athlete award recipient.
