Kellenberg Boy Scout Troop 87 hosted the viewing of Carlo Acutis: Roadmap To Reality, a 2025 documentary directed by Tim Moriarty and Christian Surtz, on Friday, September 12 in the Kellenberg Memorial Auditorium.
The screening was a massive success. Marianist Life team member John Furlong said, “The documentary was a fun but also spiritual time. It deeply strengthened not only my faith, but everyone else who attended as well.”
The screening’s idea was Mr. Castelli, religion teacher and Boy Scout moderator at KMHS. He stated, “The canonization of Carlo happened the first week of school, so we had this film to celebrate. Carlo is a great example of holiness, therefore he is a great role model for all, even if he was very young”.
Everyone who worked on putting this film viewing event together knew the importance. Squire Dante Sperandio said, “Carlo showed that even as a young person, you can still make a difference and show people that God is the only way”.
In addition to the documentary, students, scouts, families, parishioners, and anyone seeking to grow in faith saw not only a relic of Carlo but also from another recently canonized saint, Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati.
Mr. Krug described Blessed Pier as “an important figure for the Boy Scouts of America. In terms of duty to God and duty to his neighbor, he was always someone leading others. This is important in the morals and teachings of Boy Scouts.”
More beautiful ceremonies included the Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament which is a Catholic devotion to Jesus Christ’s real presence in the Eucharist. And of course The Eucharist Miracles Exhibit which was created by Blessed Carlo himself and is a display featuring Eucharistic miracles that have occurred through history.
This was more than just a screening of an amazing documentary, this was more than a ceremony. This was a true Catholic experience, where people deepened their faith and understanding of God.
For their efforts in organizing the event, Scouts, in Class-A uniform, received the Carlo Acutis Patch from the National Catholic Committee on Scouting.
