This week at Kellenberg, the Communications Club has worked extra hard to welcome back our beloved morning announcements.
Best described by junior Ava Petroski “Lights, camera, action. The morning announcements are presented to you by the Communications Club.”
The students and faculty alike are feeling a sense of normalcy as our school routine starts to feel closer to an average year. The announcements are always an outstanding prayer video to begin our mornings, followed by the entire school joining together to pray as well as say the pledge of allegiance as one student body, accompanied by the smiling face of a Communications Club member. These members tell the school the rundown of events for today and the cycle day. Mr. Beyrouty is the glue behind the Communications Club as he is the teacher who supervises the club. The announcement broadcast is televised in Kellenberg’s very own studio. Like many things this past year, the club is working a little differently this year.
Communications Club member Amanda Pillig from the junior class gives us an insight into how the club is working this year “Due to COVID-19, the Communications Club has been having weekly virtual meetings. In those meetings, members have heard talks from alumni, learned how to create packages, and have practiced announcements. We just started morning announcements again and many seasoned members of the club are excited to have back.”
All members of the study body love the morning announcements, even outside of the club itself.
Junior Emma Janosel says “The music makes the mornings more lively, fun and helps to wake you up. It is always nice to hear about the school community and events that are always going on.”
Sometimes it is hard to keep up with the school that never sleeps but Communications Club always keeps everyone up to date with sports events, club events, schedule changes and so much more.
Ava Petrosky speaks again on her experience with this vital club “I have been a proud member of the Communications Club for five years now. It has strengthened my public speaking abilities and has piqued my interest in the communications field. I used to be an introverted person, but this club has taught me to branch out of my comfort zone. At the end of my freshman year, I was given the opportunity to become a producer for the club. Now, as well as being on air, I serve as a mentor to newer members of the club. Producing is one of my favorite things to do. I am so fortunate to be a member of the Communications Club since the beginning of my Kellenberg career.”
The Kellenberg family is extremely excited to welcome back morning announcements and our amazing Communications Club.
