September 24 to the 27 were especially lively days at Kellenberg, where the Firebird community displayed their school spirit by supporting the fall student athletes.
Throughout the week, videos shown on the morning announcements fired up the student body for the annual pep rally that would be held at the end of the week. On Friday the 27, Kellenberg’s fall athletes began the day by sporting their team’s shirts and hoodies. The Latin School participated in various games and activities outside on the football field, while the freshman and sophomore athletes participated in a scavenger hunt in the auditorium.
At the Varsity Pep Rally, sports teams fought for a win during a series of games. Each team chose a few players to compete against players from another sports team. Performances were given by the Varsity Dance and Cheerleading teams, hyping up the crowd before and after each competition in the gym. As the rounds went on, the Boys Crew swept the competition and won the pep rally through a game of tug of war against Boys Cross Country.
Junior Luis Maingon, a member of the winning Crew team, said that, “My brother and I were chosen to partake in tug of war to win it all with our teammates. Overall, it was a great experience and I cannot wait to do it all again next year!”
Kellenberg’s Spirit Week and Pep Rally greatly elevated school spirit and heightened everyone’s excitement for the fall sports.
