Members of the Freshmen class came together to share in a night of faith, food, and fun -The Freshman Dance!
The Friday night festivities started at 7:00 sharp on October 17th, leaving plenty of time for athletes to go home and change into their best attire. Sophomore Sophie Bjorgvinsdottir had an away soccer game before the dance. “It was really fun going from winning the soccer game to getting ready with my friends and dancing,” she said.
Kellenberg nation advises students to attend every event– but why? Attendee Arielle Legrand answered confidently, “Events like these help us to bond as a community and get closer.”
This year’s theme, monochrome masquerade, had ladies wearing their best black or white dress, while the gentlemen suited up. The nonstop music had everyone on the dance floor.
Mr. O’Brien, better known as DJ OB, played new hits, but definitely didn’t forget the Kellenberg classics. The microphone was passed around to students, forming a dancing circle. This was a great memory for all, especially Freshman AvaRose Joneleit, saying, “You got to see people that you have never really seen before.”
Some students were lucky enough to get the microphone, solo singing some of the best songs in history. Among those few was Isabella Fisher, attesting that her favorite part of the night was belting “Piano Man” with her friends by her side.
It is a known fact that dancing creates hunger. From oreos to popcorn, Kellenberg was prepared with the best desserts and snacks for the dancing Firebirds.
The dance ended at 9:00 with swollen feet and more friends than one came with. An impressive 75% of the Freshmen class attended the fruitful night, with a majority from Homeroom 9D, winning them a bagel breakfast.
If any ninth graders are contemplating attending their dance, Freshman Isabella Fisher provides some advice. “Just go,” she says, because who knows? “You might love joining the conga line behind the offensive lineman, or enjoying the plentiful chocolate chip cookies.”
After all, there is only one way to find out.
