On April 17, the spirit week came to a close with the Spring Pep Rally. During this particular event, spring athletes are all given the opportunity to participate in various competitions.
Students who are in sports during this day get a dress down and can put on any Kellenberg branded shirt. The events were held in separate locations amongst the three team categories: Varsity athletes in the gym, in the auditorium JV, and for Latin school, in Kellenberg’s grand establishment, the FCAA. When everybody is seated, a student is called to sing the national anthem. After this the games commence, and every athlete eagerly raises their hand to be selected for different games throughout the pep rally.
The energy in the rooms were vibrant and electrifying.
Chuks Odiaka, a student at Kellenberg who currently is on the Spring track team stated, “The atmosphere in that room was something I have never seen before in my two years of being here.”
Students would root for their friends within the following sports: softball, baseball, boys volleyball, lacrosse, track and field, golf, and Kellenberg’s very own Blue and Gold teams. Each event was heavily competitive, as the student who chose to partake was in it to win it. Most games from the previous pep rally remained the same. However, students noted that the musical chairs this year had changed. It was no longer sitting down immediately when the music stopped, because now players must start from the opposite side of where the chairs are and spin around using baseball bats for balance until the music stopped playing and run until there is only one.

There was another game where players had to put on a tinsel wig and the objective was to snatch other players’ wigs off and be the last person in the room with a wig on. Another event was knockout, a basketball free throw game in which players stand in a line and shoot the ball, hoping to score before the following competitor to avoid elimination.

As is the Spring Pep Rally tradition, the Blue and Gold teams competed in their annual tug-o-war battle, which determines who goes first at the May Blue and Gold event.
Upon the conclusion of the pep rally, spring athletes were gathered on the bleachers for their team pictures. Overall, the event was very entertaining and successful in sparking the spirit of our athletes and their audience.
Kellenberg hosts a Spirit Week for each of its three athletic seasons, in which events are hosted to ignite both school spirit and pride in the athletic program.
