The Boys’ Lacrosse program enjoyed an impressive stretch of success in late April, highlighted by strong performances from both the Varsity and JV squads.
On April 23, the Varsity team earned a 14–10 victory over Cardinal Hayes behind a dominant offensive effort led by Finn Lavelle, who recorded five goals and three assists. Jamison Heneghan added two goals and three assists, while Brayden Farrelly tallied two goals of his own. Owen Power and Dylan Roberts each contributed a goal and two assists, and Jack Panzavecchia, Aidan Masse, and Sean Kelly also found the back of the net. Defensively, the Cardinals were held at bay by Firebird goalie Alfonso Yevoli’s 13 saves.
Two days later, on April 25, the Varsity squad traveled to Pleasantville and came away with a thrilling 9–8 overtime victory. Aidan Masse scored the game-winning goal in overtime off an assist from Dylan Roberts in a contest that featured five lead changes. Masse and Owen Power each finished with three goals, while Finn Lavelle added two goals and Brayden Farrelly chipped in another. Sean Kelly totaled three assists, and the defensive unit of Matt Moore, Doug Cristales, and Dylan Kolm stood strong in front of Yevoli, who turned aside 13 shots. The victory capped off a demanding stretch of three consecutive games in which the team posted a 2–1 record.
Also on April 25, the JV boys’ lacrosse team dominated Syosset with a 14–3 win. Brendan McDevitt led the attack with five goals and one assist, while Owen Lavelle and Brenna Cooney each recorded hat tricks. Lavelle also added three assists in the victory. Brendan Hawkins and Pat Wisnewski each scored their first goals of the season, and goalie Sean Hawkins anchored the defense with 14 saves to keep Syosset in check throughout the game.
