Kellenberg’s annual Pop Hop took place on Thursday, January 30 in the cafeteria.
Over 500 girls and their father figured enjoyed a fun night of food and dancing. The cafeteria was transformed into a beautiful event space by members of S.A.L.T. Kellenberg’s Craft Club contributed to the decor of the dance by making all of the centerpieces for the tables. The tables were covered with blue and gold tablecloths, the cafeteria was lined with food, and there was a large dance floor set up right in front of Mr. O’Brien’s DJ booth.
Attendees of the Pop Hop had the opportunity to win raffles. Some of the more coveted raffles included the Dunkin basket, filled with a Dunkin tumbler and Dunkin gift cards; a Starbucks basket, filled with Starbucks gift cards and cups; and a Kellenberg basket, filled with Firebird merch.
Junior Talene Mastacciuola has attended the Pop Hop for the past four years and shares how sentimental the event is to her, “Every year I have fun with my friends and it is really great to hang out with my dad.”
For 9th grade scripture teacher, Mr. O’Brien, this was his 13th Pop Hop. In the past he served as the DJ for the event, but this year he served as both the DJ and as a guest. “My favorite part of the dance is when the girls slow dance with their dads,” he says. “I also love to see the dads and meet up with one another. Evidently enough, this Pop Hop occurred on his birthday, and everyone in attendance surprised him at the end of the night with a birthday cake and song.
This year’s Pop Hop was an amazing experience for all, allowing students to spend time with their classmates and important figures in their lives.
