Sunny skies and a crisp breeze enabled a beautiful night for the Class of 2028’s first official event as a grade: the annual Freshman Dance. A wonderful opportunity to make friends, the Freshman Dance is held each year to kick off the fall and welcome the newest Firebirds into the nest. Beautiful weather permitted the freshman to dance the night away under the lights of the courtyard. This year’s dance was set under the theme of “A Night in Hollywood,” making the freshman feel as if they were movie stars themselves.
As the students strutted across a red carpet, they were welcomed by the one and only Mr. O’Brien, a.k.a. D.J OB, and the senior Marianist leaders. The senior leaders kicked off the night as they were the first to boogie on the dance floor. Of course, DJ OB introduced the Freshman to the Kellenberg favorites of “Piano Man” and “Chicken Fried.” DJ OB, otherwise known as Mr. O’Brien stated, “The freshmen are such a fun group of kids. They brought so much positive energy. I am really looking forward to working with them throughout their time at Kellenberg.”
Students were also able to enjoy the night by participating in outdoor games such as cornhole. Kate O’Brien ‘28 recounts, “So many kids came together on Friday night, and I had a lot of fun. We played cornhole and danced. I can’t wait for the future dances and events with my grade.” Attendance was said to be outstanding, and the vibes of the Dance were fantastic overall.
This year’s Freshman Dance was one of the best yet with high energy from the outstanding freshman. The newest Firebirds are looking forward to future events with their class.
