Kellenberg’s Girls’ Golf team concluded their season in second place with a record of 8 wins and 2 losses.
In the semi final playoffs, the girls beat Sacred Heart by 4 ½-½ in a thrilling match. Senior Cat Slade and junior Bridget LaRosa carried the team with a shot three over par and one over par respectively to win their matches. Freshman Gabby Debono came back from losing the first two holes of the match to winning up two holes.
The final score was 3-2 and the team secured their spot in the back-to-back championships.
On Monday, May 13, Cat, Bridget, Gabby, and junior Keira McCarthy continued their winning streak at the League Tournament at the Eisenhower Park Red Course.
Bridget finished the 18-hole tournament in second place while Gabby DeBono and Cat Slade finished in a tie for third place.
All three girls qualified for the State CHSAA Tournament at Silver Lake Golf Course on Staten Island on Thursday, May 20. At this exciting match, Cat Slade won her second state championship in three years while Bridget LaRosa and Gabby DeBono finished in third place and fifth place respectively.
The girls are set to compete on June 9 at the Bethpage Red Course in the New York State Federation Golf Tournament. Congratulations to all players on an amazing season!
