Article by Phoenix writer Lauren DeRiggi ’24:
On Friday, May 19, members of the junior class gathered in the auditorium during a morning assembly for the Junior Ring Banquet. The students received their class rings and a pin, both of which not only recognize their hard work over the last three years but also symbolize the leadership the junior class will take on next year as seniors.
Later that evening, the junior class gathered again for the Junior Dance. The theme for the dance was “Hollywood,” and the gym and cafeteria were decorated with movie posters and stars by the Junior General Student Organization.
The night began with a dinner, which was served by members of S.A.L.T. in the cafeteria. This meal was followed by dancing in the gymnasium. Music was played throughout the dance by Mr. James O’Brien, also known as DJ OB.
Students also enjoyed a slideshow presentation that played throughout the night and showed pictures of the junior class participating in other school events throughout their high school years. Some of these pictures even date back to the students’ time in the Latin School.
Junior Megan Dunne shared, “By spending time eating, talking, and dancing, we were able to share in a very valuable experience and become closer as a class, which I feel is a good sign going into our next year as seniors.”
The Junior Ring Banquet and Dance was a great opportunity for the junior class to gather together and recognize their hard work demonstrated in their time at Kellenberg so far.
Thank you to Mrs. Bernardini, Mrs. Prosceo, Junior GSO, and S.A.L.T. for making this event such a success.
